What Is an Apostille?
An apostille is an official certificate issued by the State of New Jersey that verifies the signature and seal on your document so it will be accepted in another country. Countries that are members of the Hague Apostille Convention accept the apostille directly. Countries that are not members require a different process called authentication, which we also handle. Many clients confuse a notarized document with an apostilled document. A notarized document is only valid in the United States. If your document is going to another country, it almost always needs an apostille or authentication on top of the notarization. Our team reviews your document, tells you exactly what is missing, and walks you through each step so nothing gets rejected.
Documents Requiring an Apostille
Common documents we apostille for use abroad include:
- Birth certificates, marriage certificates, and death certificates
- Diplomas, transcripts, and academic records
- FBI background checks and federal documents
- Powers of attorney and affidavits
- Business documents, corporate records, and contracts
- Court documents and other legal paperwork
Requirements depend on the document type, who issued it, and the destination country. Some documents must be notarized before they can be apostilled, and some must be certified copies issued by the record custodian. Send us a photo or scan of your document and we will confirm what it needs before you pay anything.
Apostille Cost in New Jersey
Our apostille service is $150 for the first document and $99 for each additional document. That includes the New Jersey apostille processing fee, document handling and review, and status updates while your documents are in process. Notarization, travel, parking, and expedited service are quoted separately when needed. There are no hidden fees, and we explain the full breakdown up front.
How the Process Works
First, you contact us by phone, email, text, or WhatsApp and describe your document and destination country. Second, we review your document and confirm the exact requirements, including whether notarization is needed first. Third, you send us the document by mail or drop it off at our Somerset location. Fourth, we handle the New Jersey apostille filing and keep you updated on the status. Fifth, we ship the completed documents back to you or to anyone you designate, anywhere in the world.
